“Reaching My Star” Goals
The Media Academy supports the “Reaching My Star” program, a faith-based series of workshops designed to inspire creativity, develop story writing skills and learn video production skills for social media. This workshop is designed for 9th – 12th grade youth group teens.
- Learn the basic steps to produce a video segment to publish on social media.
- Gain insights into the responsibilities of a video
producer and production crew. - Use the insights suggested on creativity and story writing to help develop faith-based, value driven content.
- Understand how the professional production process can be applied to a classroom video production.
- Recognize the power of boredom and daydreaming to unleash your imagination.
- Explore how faith can impact decisions on content of video segments.
- Produce a short video segment with a team of other teens.

- Explore the quality and content of different types of media.
- Gain insights on creativity and story writing.
- Learn the basic steps to produce a faith-based video segment to publish on social media.
- Gain insights into the responsibilities of a video
producer and production crew. - Understand how the professional production process can be applied to a classroom video production.
This series of workshops are highly interactive and encourage students to take an active role in discovering their own creativity. Workshops begin shortly after school and last 60 – 90 minutes once a week. The academy is currently accepting applications for adult volunteers to assist with this series at Saint Joseph Catholic School. Contact the school office for application details. Parents can contact the school office to register their child for this program.

Navigating a Video Driven World
This program provides youth and families a chance to explore daily habits and consumption of media and introduces guides based on Christian values to foster responsible creation and viewing of social media.
