The Media Academy offers the following workshops during the fall and spring terms of the school year.
Saint Joseph Catholic School – After School Enrichment Program – Fall 2026
The Media Academy workshops are a new program developed by Saint Joseph Catholic Church and Saint Joseph Catholic School as the next phase of faith based, video production workshops for youth which began in the spring of 2024. The workshops are available to 5th and 6th grade students at the school as an after school enrichment program. The premise of the program is to introduce students to the process of media production so that they can learn about content bias, explore the nature of creativity, and learn the fundamentals of story writing under a program teaching the process of faith-based video production. This fall 2026 the program will focus on video podcast interview training in the new podcast studio. Contact the school office for workshop scheduling information and to register a student for this workshop. Podcasts will be peer evaluated to be considered for posting on the church YouTube channel.
Saint Joseph Catholic Church Youth Group Program – Fall 2026 / Spring 2027
In fall 2025 the workshops were introduced to the church Youth Group teens, grades 9th – 12th. The topics included teen issues, finding purpose in life, saints & role models, how to cope with anxiety, depression and social media addiction. These workshops also included instruction on the organization of a video production of short, faith-based segments for social media. The teens produced short segments with a message designed for their peers. This fall 2026 teens will have an opportunity to reassemble their teams and take their topics to the next level of production format and quality. The program will focus on video podcast interview training in the new podcast studio. Podcasts will be peer evaluated to be considered for posting on the church YouTube channel.
